The Main Sanctuary

The Sam Tanenbaum Sanctuary, named for the long time spiritual leader of the synagogue, seats approximately 130 people.

Another 30 people can be accommodated in the upstairs rear balcony.

The main sanctuary is known for its late 19th century, middle European character and its high quality acoustics.

The Social Hall

The Arie Nerman Social Hall, named for the long time President, seats approximately eighty people. About ninety can be accommodated at stand up functions.

 

The hall is the venue for our annual High Holiday children's services and where from October to May the BHI hosts a weekly Wednesday drop-in, providing lunch and good cheer to those needing either or both

 

Use of the hall by outsiders is limited to local non-profit and non political community organizations. If you are interested, please contact us

Kitchen & Food Service

Any supplied food is limited to Kosher dairy or Vegan.

 

The kitchen is best suited to reheating, platter assembly and simple vegetable/fruit prep.

Accessibility

The Sam Tannenbaum Sanctuary has a ramp to provide wheelchair access through the rear door. The Arie Nerman Social Hall and the washrooms are in the basement level of the building and are not currently accessible.
